"The most eccentric Israeli wines, for better or worse. It is, in fact, a wine so eccentric that it is hard to score because there is no real benchmark. It's certainly something for which you have to have a plan, as it's not a normal dinner wine. Apart from the long time in barrel, the real point here is that this was done in an Amarone-style: The grapes were dried on mats for 50 days under low temperatures. Then, it comes in at 15.5% alcohol. It needs the right food match, a little time in the cellar and/or air and an open mind. Many will hate it, many won't. This year, it seems to have less density and structure than last year's—granting that I don't have them side-by-side and this has had a few extra months to settle down... However, this also has waves of rich flavors and a juicy, long finish. In any event, this still needs a pairing with some very rich and big foods, maybe funky cheeses or venison. Overall, this is one of those wines where the score does not matter anywhere near as much as the style. You like it or you don't..."Wine Advocate
